Contacts (subscribers) are the individual email addresses stored in your lists, each with profile data, engagement history, and status flags. Search and view them across all lists under Contacts → View/Search Contacts, or click a list's contact count under Lists → Contact Lists to see contacts in that list. From a contact's actions menu you can view details, see email history and the event log (deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces), edit, or delete.
You add contacts in two main ways:
Manual entry via Contacts → Add a Contact — choose the list, enter the email, set format, confirmation, status, and fill in custom fields. Each email can exist only once per list.
Import via Contacts → Import Contacts — a 3-step wizard: upload a CSV or TXT file and set options (duplicates: Skip, Update, or Overwrite), map file columns to fields (Email Address is required), then watch real-time progress with counts for imported, duplicate, and invalid rows. The standard import is multi-threaded and runs in the background; you can cancel mid-import.
There's also Lists → Bulk Update to apply actions (unsubscribe, delete, change status, etc.) to contacts listed in a file.
Worth knowing: a contact's email address can't be edited — delete and re-add instead; Rocket import is being deprecated in favor of the faster standard import; only Active, non-hard-bounced, subscribed contacts receive emails; and account limits on total contacts can cause imports to fail.
