The Google Analytics addon sends your email engagement into your own Google Analytics 4 property using two complementary methods. UTM Campaign Tagging automatically appends utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term parameters to the links in your emails, so when a recipient clicks through to your website, your own Google Analytics attributes that visit — and any resulting conversions or revenue — to the email campaign. This needs no credentials and works with the GA you already have on your site. The optional GA4 Server Events method pushes engagement (sent, click, unsubscribe, bounce, and optionally open) straight into your GA4 property as custom events via Google's Measurement Protocol, which requires a Measurement ID and API secret. UTM tagging covers what most people want; server events are an advanced add-on for richer, server-side data. Opens are off by default because Apple Mail Privacy Protection inflates them heavily. You configure everything per account under the addon's settings page.
